GAUNTLET

GAUNTLET is well known for its adaptation to constant changes and determination to survive through hard times since it came to life in Madrid (Spain) back in 1998.
The first years are usually tough, but particularly in this case because in spite of the blend of hard work, quality and attitude the band has always exhibited, is not until 2005 when, at last, they achieve a stable line-up that allows them to give birth to “Path Of Nails” (2006), which is a real effort in all the ways and introduces them to a larger audience.
One year later, the releasing of the EP “The Comeback” demonstrates that they have delivered a powerful sound and, what is more important: their own sound.
In the dawn of 2008, former singer Ivo Galenov decides to quit just few weeks after entering the studio. Most of the bands would have thrown the towel, but not these guys…
The four remaining members –Dani (guitar), Ando (drums), Santi (bass) and Miguel (guitar/vocals)- keep the band up during the whole process of creation of “What Doesn’t Kill Us…” which is released in February 2009 via Molusco Discos/GOR. Recorded at New Life Studios and mastered at Finnvox, it faithfully reflects his unique sound, making clear that Heavy Metal, Hard Rock and Thrash can match perfectly in their multi-influenced but original style, in such assorted songs that shouldn’t be labelled anyway.
The reactions on the new record in many countries are as good as expected. This has always been a constant throughout his career.
With no time to lose, they kick off a twenty-odd gigs tour all over the country, defending their reputation of being one of the most exciting bands on stage everywhere they go. In the summer, they also have the chance to play at “Ilha Do Ermal Festival” in Portugal, with international bands like Sepultura, Blind Guardian or Angra. This is the last show Santi plays with the G, because during the tour he decides to leave the band as well.
Not long after, he is replaced by J.C. Fernández, an experienced bassist who fits in since the beginning, completing the line-up.
